Sadute- A Lithuanian Wedding Dance

Not too many people know this about me, but growing up I spent my Saturdays in Lithuanian School. Every Saturday we would have classes in history, grammar, religion, song and polka dance. (Yes I said polka dancing and of course dancing was my favorite class!)

Now that I’m out of school I don’t have time or the opportunity to polka dance anymore. 😦 However last month my very dear friend, Karina got married and it was the perfect occasion to polka dance once more.

During a Lithuanian reception there are a couple of traditions that take place and one of my favorites is a dance called, Sadute. Sadute is a wedding dance which is performed as a farewell to the bride in her honor.

Unfortunately the video was taken by a non-professional so it’s pretty dark, but I hope you can still view and enjoy it!
